Carter Turns "5"

August 5, 2011

My little man is growing up. It is bitter sweet for sure, I am glad that he still have another year before kindergarten otherwise this birthday would have been a lot harder for me. He is my big sweetheart and I want him to stay that way. He is such a good big brother and really loves Sam. He is pretty excited about getting a new little brother. I just hope he can keep up being a huge help to me when he does arrive.

We had a bug themed birthday party. We made little bug jars to catch all their bugs in. Here is the birthday boy showing his excellent work.

The crew with all their jars.

After we made jars we went to Smith Park and played some games. They had to unwind a ball of streamers and they got all kinds of goodies and bugs to put into their jars. Then they all went and played on the toys for a while.

Sam and Penny fought over the camera case. Both really wanted it and when one had it the other would want it more. It was pretty funny to watch them. Eventually Sam got it in hand and then rolled away so Penny couldn't reach him. Victory! :)

Playing on the toys! This brings back memories, we used to play on that wagon for hours as kids!

Opening presents! Carter has really gotten into drawing pictures and writing letters. This was from the Giffords and he uses it all the time.

Grandma and Grandpa Erickson got him some shirts and also a pokeman and bakugon toys. You can sense the excitement in his eyes!

We got him a soccer goal to play with in the backyard made by Sean and a lego hero to build!

Aunt Starla and Uncle Ryan got him a new car with trailer. Grandma Nee and Grandpa Chaz got him some pjs, a new bug that walks, and some books. Uncle Scotty wrote him a very nice letter! Overall is was a big success and he had a great day!

He is holding his bakugon taking a picture with his cake. I actually made a creative cake this year. I always try to do something fun with the cake but this one was my best so far!

Another picture of the cake with the candles lit! Of course it was bug themed and tasted real yummy!

Happy Birthday Carter! I'm sure glad you had a fun day!
