Memorial Day 09

This memorial day was very special. We tried to make it a little more patriotic then normal. We started off the mourning with a ward breakfast with great food of course. Sean and Kurt went golfing and then we headed over the the Veterans Cemetery for a program. We went with Sean's brother Jeff and his family and also my cousin Michelle and her family! There was a big production with speakers and music (which we missed) but we arrived just in time to see the canon show and sing and national anthem. It was very humbling to see the many gravestones of all the people that have served for the freedoms that we know receive. I have never been to Washington D.C. before but after seeing this cemetery I can only imagine what it is like to be there. One thing I thought was very cool was the on every headstone was a symbol of all the soldiers religion. It definitely brought a whole new meaning to memorial day for me.
After that we had a picnic and went swimming at a fun place called Eagle Island! It was a great day. Overall a huge success!!
